I'll Take the Pink Pup

Mom found me through the Internet! She started by reading USENET groups on dogs. From there she found a few breeds that sounded interesting, so started searching the web for more information. Read her account of choosing the most adorable pup in the world...ME!

The First Week

My first week with Mom and Dad was memorable for a variety of reasons, but mostly because they say it felt like it...would...never...end!

The First Six Months

Unlike the first week, the first month was a blur. I so quickly adapted to my new life, that Mom and Dad had to keep reminding themselves I'd only been with them a few weeks. At the end of the first month, we had pretty much figured each other out and established a bond. So I figured it was time to test that bond....every day....and see just who was boss.

The First Year

Today is March 13, 1999 and I've officially lived with my forever family for 1 year. We have survived each other fairly well. I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship. :-)

I'm a good girl and have a very sweet nature. But you've probably figured out we also had a few problems to work out. Mom and Dad's goal for our first year became Train That Pup! You may recall from the various qualities Mom and Dad liked about Ridgebacks, was this little gem:

They are very intelligent and of above-average trainability for a hound.

Which, of course, leads one to wonder, "what is average trainability for a hound?"
